Dennis Enoch . . .

My first two years of high school were completed at Salpointe, and after graduation from Amphi in June 1963, I packed my bags and left for Los Angeles. I remained there for almost fifteen years with a two year side trip arranged by Uncle Sam and the U.S. Navy. I pulled great duty as a Communications Technician in Washington, D.C. When that was finished, it was back to L.A. for a while. Then, it was off to Lake Tahoe in pursuit of the wonderful world of broadcasting. I was the mid-day jock at KTHO on the South Shore.

Tucson beckoned, yet again, and I returned in July 1979, exactly sixteen years to the day after I'd left for L.A.  Back in Tucson, I worked at both KHYT and KCEE, but sandy beaches were calling to me and I headed back to California in 1981. Unbelievably, I landed in the beautiful Monterey/Carmel area where I was the "morning guy" at one of the local stations. While so engaged, I finally met a woman who could stand me for more than a week and Kathryn and I married in 1991 after a long courtship. We now have a son Ryan, who will be turning ten this year. Yeah, I'm 57 with a ten year old, and, no, there is no family history of sanity in the Enoch lineage.

My radio career culminated with a rather long stint as an "afternoon drive" jock in San Francisco where I did a fair amount of voice work, and Kathryn and I did quite a few television commercials. But, I realized that it was time for a change.

I've been lucky enough to have been able to pursue both of my childhood dream jobs. First, it was radio and now it's the practice of law. Following law school, I opened a general practice in Monterey and I'm now working in the litigation division of OneBeacon Insurance at the home office here in Philadelphia. I'm currently shopping my now very distinguished (i.e. old and raspy) voice to talent agents in the area.

Why Philly? Simple, Kathryn is a native to this truly beautiful area and we live just twenty miles west of Philadelphia in West Chester. I work in Old City and my office, overlooking Constitution Hall and the Liberty Bell (still cracked), is just about a block away. I'm working on forsaking the Forty Niners and becoming and Eagles fan, but I refuse to give up on either the Dodgers or Lakers.

Hobbies still include motorcycles, and they've always been a part of my life since buying that first Cushman Eagle from Musselman's back in 1959. I write some stuff when I can and Kathryn is pushing me to do more just to see what happens.

Susan Ficzeri . . .

I married Norman Smith in 1964. We had two children, both girls, who are married and now have families of their own. Our oldest lives in Virginia, but due to a military life is getting ready to move to Ft. Bragg. We hope this is the last move as he only has four more years of service left. They have two children, a boy and girl. My youngest lives in Marana and works for the Tucson Police Department in their criminologist department. She and her husband have two children, both girls, and therefore I am a proud grandmother of four.

After twenty-five years of marriage, Norman and I decided to go our separate ways. He is in Show Low, AZ, and I currently live in Chandler, AZ.

I went to work in 1984 at our old alma mater, Amphi, as an attendance clerk. Prior to that I was pretty much a mom. In 1986 I moved up to the position of High School Registrar. It was positively wonderful to see teachers, who had been there when I was a student, still doing the difficult job of molding teenage brains. I worked at Amphi until 1995, when I realized it was time for a change and a move. I ended up in Chandler where I took a position with the Horace Mann Companies, which is a multi-line insurance company, as assistant to the state manager. Last year through the company I won a trip, all expenses paid, to Maui, and this last Spring I won a trip to Australia.

I'm not sure where my next adventure will take me, but you never know what's around the corner.

Joe Finch . . .

Born in Los Angeles on August 6th 1945, the day the Atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan.  He spent formative years in Tucson, French Morocco, Greece, and Spain, returning to Tucson in 1961 to attend school.  Following Graduation from Amphi in 1963, he entered the U of A to become an Aerospace engineer.  Drafted as a Private in 1966, he rose through the ranks to Lieutenant Colonel  during a distinguished military career.  He earned numerous combat and peacetime awards including the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, twenty-eight awards of the Air Medal for flying in combat,  and four awards of the Meritorious Service Medal.

Joe lived overseas for much of his life, spent time in sixteen foreign countries and speaks a little of several languages.  Medically retired in 1990 following a life threatening accident which left him paralyzed, Joe recovered, began working for the Department of Energy conducting radioactive clean-up at superfund sites and joined General Dynamics as an environmental engineer in 1996.  He has helped lead the Amphibious Systems team to nine national awards for environmental protection.

Joe has written "Angel's Wing" (Book Review), published by Bartleby Press, two more books which will go to the publisher in 2003, and is working on a fourth book he hopes will be finished in 2004.

Joe lives with his wife of twenty-six years, Monika, and their two grown children (Nicholas and Tanya) in Centreville VA, where he attends Centreville Baptist Church and enjoys singing with the choir.

Joe Frannea . . .

I was born in Tucson, AZ in 1945.  Lived on Silver Street, two blocks East of Campbell Avenue, with my parents and four brothers.  My dad was in the real estate and insurance business with his own office on East Speedway, near Alvernon.  I attended Jefferson Park Elementary School and Doolen Jr. High before moving to a new house on West Ina Road, about a half a mile west of Oracle Road.  I started high school at Amphi and decided to go out for the football team, which started practice before the school year began, to meet some of my new classmates since I didn’t know anyone in the Amphi district.  Ron Clark befriended me at the first practice session and we became best friends and had many great times during high school.

After high school I attended the University of Arizona in Electrical Engineering, which had always been a hobby.  I worked summers at ASARCO’s Mission Copper Mine South of Tucson to work my way through college.  Graduated in February 1968 and went to work for Mobil Oil Corp in Midland, Texas performing oil field automation work, building and installing computer control systems.

Patsy Hand and I had been dating since our junior year in high school and through college.  She graduated from the U of A in 1967 and was working in San Francisco, so it was a hard sell to convince her to move to Midland.  We were married in Tucson at Casa Adobes Congregational Church in February and off to Midland for a couple of years before transferring to Oklahoma City.  We had three boys during our eight year stay in Oklahoma City, and then transferred to Denver.  We all enjoyed Denver and made many good friends.  I did some cross country skiing and hiking.  We transferred to New Orleans, which was an experience in itself, living in the Garden District in a wonderful historic home.  After three years and gaining several pounds enjoying all that wonderful cuisine, we then transferred to Dallas.  After nine years in Dallas and getting stressed with corporate life, I decided to take early retirement so we could return to Tucson (1996) and be closer to family.  However, our kids remained in Texas (Dallas and Houston), two are married.

Patsy and I, with the help of our boys, have enjoyed restoring and remodeling older homes (1890's - 1940's) in the various cities we lived.  Our Tucson house is a 1960's Jetson’s type house which has been challenging and fun to renovate.  A studio/guest house is being built in the back as time permits with a rammed earth shop to follow on the side of the property.

I enjoy photography, genealogy, woodworking, electronics, remodeling/building, landscaping, and computers.  I keep busy with helping family and friends, maintenance at Patsy’s mothers place on First Avenue, home repairs and renovations, volunteer work for The Tucson Cactus and Succulent Society Cactus Rescue Crew, and volunteer work for the Southern Arizona Section of the International Dark-Skies Association working on ways to reduce and educate people on light pollution.  See the Dark Skies web site I developed, and visit my web site with some of my favorite digital photography pictures.
